Violence

Anime is known for it's creative use of action and gore, and many anime are remarkable for.

Sex

All the women in anime, from Schoolgirls to mech pilots to schoolgirls to Superheroes to schoolgirls to maids to schoolgirls to ninjas to schoolgirls to nuns are all drawn to be be seen as "hot". If not in the eyes of everyone, at least in the eyes of someone. Someone creepy, for example.

Sex and Violence:

As is common in most other film mediums, the ones comitting all the violence are also the ones with the most sexy exciting lives.

Sax and Violins:

Some anime are about aspiring musical groups. It is clear where they draw their inspiration from, and if you haven't already figured it out then you're a moron.

Politics

Some anime, most notably Gundam take something that the whole world can understand easily enough, (like big fighting robots that smash and distroy!) with something that nobody either relates to or cares about (like the delecate politics behind the governing of colonies... IN SPAAAAAAACE!!!).


Chick/Dude Confusion:

For reasons that we cannot understand at all, Japan has a thing for gender ambiguity. This means the occasional Chick that looks like a dude, and (far more horrifyingly) dudes that look like chicks.
